Recently re-commissioned and restored, this Rolls-Royce Mann Egerton Limousine has a very interesting history record.
Previously in long term storage, and sold then as a genuine barn find, this Rolls was purchased in 2018.
It underwent a re-paint and re-trim, wood work was stripped and re-polished and replaced part of the exhaust system.
The owner then 'ran out of steam', and sold the Rolls on.
Since purchased as a 'Lockdown' project, it has undergone a 'pretty thorough re-commissioning process'.
Tyres replaced, fan belt, plugs, points, re-conditioned steam valve, all oils (including steering box), re-instating of the central lubrication system, flushing of cooling system (various times), re-instatement of Calorstat, cleaning/lubrication of road springs, freeing off and lubrication of all suspension, brakes, prop shaft and steering joints.Re-chromed headlight shells and correct glasses fitted.
The car has then been driven 400 - 500 miles over summer months, and has had engine oil flushed and renewed 4 times.
It comes with a current V5 document that is registered as historic, therefore benefits from tax and MOT exemption.
Inside the history folder are photographs of the vehicle before registration and some copies of much older photographs.
There's lots of information in the history file about the first 2 owners of the classic. The first owner was on the Petroleum board for Shell, a chairman on the War Cabinet's Oil Control Committee and knighted in 1938! The second owner, also from London, was a Vice- President of a banking firm, served in the South African War, was awarded a Queen's Medal and Chairman of Eastern Bank.
Also inside is a copy of the Rolls Royce Construction and Test Records from when manufactured, and lots of invoices from recent re-commission.
